[Intro] You're the copy of the copy of the copy of a friend Everybody looks the same, chasing versions of themselves. [Verse 1] You want the best of you, so you’re copying the rest, All special, all identical, all running for the next. Repetitive behavior, preset minds on display, If this is “you”, then tell me: who coded your way? You buy the context, to be part of the scene, The ticket for the party, when you want to get in. The world says “update”, your fear says “fun”, And you demand another version to become. Born flawed, raised through patches and corrections, Every failure deleted like outdated connections. The next love you try to fit will claim your shape is fine. She won’t see the cracks you failed to hide last time. In this world rejection is our greatest fear: We consume to become, we’re consumed to appear. [Chorus 1 - 100k] We’re a hundred thousand versions Tailored for the scene Switching faces like behaviors, We just wanna fit the mean. In every place we are, we become what they expect — Software perfection compensates for hardware defects. In every place we are, we become what they expect — Software perfection compensates for hardware defects. [Verse 2] Liquid modern life promises your every desire What’s the point of staying out? Why stay behind? In an age of self-deception fueled by fronts we manifest, Do you really want to live locked away from all the best? You’ll suffer either way, whichever role you take: Shrink yourself to be accepted, or be yourself and break. A thinner mask fits better, smoother on the face, The thinner it becomes, the faster you can change. Perpetual self-deception, personality reload, New relationship required to erase the former code. Among our values, success always ranks first. For every role we fake, we’re loving who we’re not. Instant gratification kills the fear for just a while, But never gives you certainty, it never reconciles. [Chorus 2 - 0] Searching for their approval, Even through the pain, I'm losing myself in… this careless decay. Suddenly I see those hundred thousand faces fall, Behind them I was never anyone, I never was at all. I never was at all. [Verse 3] We pay with who we are for things we wanna chase, Corruption digs deeper where it finds blank slates. Some protect themselves with the armor of cynicism Others let ignorance drown the dreams they might seek. I can reject your trial if I choose to be worse. I'll take away your power by being your curse. Show yourself who you are — not the shell you imitate, Not the mask you put on, nor the roles you fabricate. Maybe seeing truth requires looking deep inside, Beyond every update, every patch you try to hide. Your soul grows inward, like a tree from its seed, Not built from outside with rules you try to heed. When the mask falls slowly, piece by fragile piece, You meet your truest self where all illusions cease. [Chorus 3 - 1] Vanity of vanities, all this is vanity in the end, Behind ten thousand masks I didn't find a man. When your intentions are pure, you never lose anyone, It’s them who lose the light, it’s them who come undone. I realized I’m the greatest thing I own— The judgment of others is only a gauge of their souls. [Outro] No one’s as perfect as the version they display, If you value their cracks, you’re learning love’s true way.

One.No-One.One-Hundred-Thousand Persona, which in Latin means Mask, like those worn in Greek and Roman theater to indicate each role played. It's a tribute to Pirandello, but the singular title indicates a software update for the same person: version 1.0.100k. Today, we're all invited to imitate two-dimensional models, and we find ourselves in a constant race to excel. We wear a mask for every situation, aiming to fit in with them. So I ask myself: what influenced me to want to be this way? Perhaps the desire to belong to a group, which pushes us to the point of possibly accepting discrimination or bullying against other defenseless targets? If life is based on pre-chosen standards, who are we beneath all the masks we wear? In the constant pursuit of others' approval, we are losing our identity, allowing it to be consumed by a constant decay, without caring. And those who don't seek to deepen their cultural or spiritual depth are more vulnerable. Growing up immersed in liquid modernity, we think we can overcome every difficulty by finding something that makes us feel better among the many possibilities available to us. We change our relationships with people as superficially as we change the products we buy, subscribing to narratives that exempt us from our responsibilities. Understanding the lie, the mask, means first looking at our weaknesses, at what we want to hide about ourselves from others. In the age of perpetual self-deception, we convince ourselves that the next update to our personality can avoid the mistakes made by the previous one. The next relationship won't see the hardware defects we failed to hide. And humanity's next product must also be one that fits us well. The truth is that no one is perfect; not like the version they want to show of themselves. Exposing ourselves frankly, without worrying about hiding our flaws, accepting the possibility of rejection, frees us to be accepted for who we truly are. We often fail to realize that those who love us attribute qualities to us beyond those we believe we possess. Meanwhile, those who don't want to love us will never be satisfied with our best version. It's not about qualitative and quantitative standards, but about compatibility. To truly see reality, we must first be able to look at ourselves without filters. We are the best thing we have and we cannot lose it, so instead of hiding, we should cultivate our talents and enrich who we truly are, that thing: us. In her dystopia, Kallocaina, Karin Boye wrote: "You build from the outside, we build from the inside. What is organic needs no organization. You build using yourselves as stones and you fall apart inside and out. We are built from the inside like trees, and between us grow bridges that are not of dead matter and dead coercion. From us comes what is alive, into you comes what is lifeless."

Song explanation · IT

Voi costruite usando voi stessi come pietre e crollate a pezzi dentro e fuori.
